(38,684 posts)44. If there were a Dem in the WH, she'd suggest saving any of the wood that isn't rotten and creating a sculpture --
of Rachel Jackson (who died before her husband was inaugurated) or her niece, Emily Donelson, who served in the role of First Lady. Either would be a more sympathetic figure than Andrew Jackson. Who knows, maybe Emily had a hand in planting the magnolias.
Or maybe a sculpture commemorating the Trail of Tears and/or the Indian Removal Act, brainchild of POTUS Jackson.
