4. Sadly the families will only get a few pennies on the dollar of the judgment.

There are all kind of attorney commissions, legal costs and fees that take the majority of any judgment. Been there and done that. There was a case where a man was awarded a million dollars by a jury, but the legal commissions, costs and fees came to $5M due to court appeals.
