But it's all about interpretation of the amendment, not overriding it. Trump's contention is that his interpretation is the correct one - that immigrants who haven't gone through the correct process aren't under the jurisdiction of the US. It is a ludicrous argument, because if they aren't under the jurisdiction of the US we couldn't jail then, deport them, etc.

Ultimately, it is the courts job to determine what that phrase (and any other constitutional provision) means.
