When Stalin collapsed from a stroke he was alone and lay unattended in his office the entire night. When discovered the next morning Politburo members were notified and rushed to his office. One exclaimed that someone should call a doctor. Another reminded him that there were no competent doctors left in Moscow as they had all been purged months before.
