We were self-employed and when our health insurance premiums reached 3 times our mortgage with a huge deductible, we had to go naked. Still years away from Medicare but not spring chickens, we had several serious medical issues to contend with. We managed to not die or go bankrupt in the interim. I don't understand why they're doing this. It won't win them any votes.
