Why would he mention such security measures if he wasn't painfully aware of his fear of being attacked? He reveals his subconscious awareness that his increasingly insane behavior makes most people hate him and want to attack him. And since he was already shot at, he is in full paranoia mode and feels justified in building up the white house into his personal fortress. But he fails to realize that his own Maga people may also wish to harm him in another version of the January 6th attack, but one which comes from inside the White House when they feel betrayed by him.
