And that's what makes this tragedy even sadder. Yes, she knew. Yes, she realized the danger. Call it ego, call it sheer stubbornness to give it one more try. She knew, and although she may now regret her choice, I'm guessing she doesn't regret following through on her drive to give it one last go.
