They have been cosplaying in their own militias for decades but keep in mind that 45 got in through a "coalition of single-issue voters" and not all agree on the same "single issues".
The hardcore "base" amount to about 35% of the population. You see this number appear over and over and over in the polls and other surveys. It's just that they are very vocal and very very loud, but they are not the majority.
You have probably 25% who voted for him including red staters (and indies), who have gone silent, once they got negatively impacted. You have red state governors who have refused to provide voter data including Utah, West Virginia, and Oklahoma.
So they are not simply rolling over but as pure, unadulterated "opportunists", are taking advantage of the red-friendly environment to implement their own personal wishes and dreams... while they can.
It's not that I have my head in the sand but am pointing out that there are other factors out there that can change the expected or perceived outcome.
As a simple example, the state of TX is actually a "minority majority" state. And many of those "minorities" are in denial, but are learning quickly, that they are not "white". So some of them are getting restless and it will remain to be seen how people in that state react as the year goes on being under assault. As a sidenote, one of my BILs older brothers has been living down there for about 30 years and raised his kids there (although some of his kids are now here in the Philly area with their own kids going to college in the area).
