Richard Clarke wanted the large monitor to display intelligence feeds. Mrs. Cheney insisted that the monitor be tuned to CNN.

I am going by my memory in supplying the foregoing anecdote. I am sure that I read it somewhere shortly after 9-11. It may not be true.

Of interest is that the room might have been the Presidential Emergency Operations Center. That room was beneath The East Wing, all of which is now gone because of Trump.
