This is about people I've talked to in the last month or so. Here in the South, people who don't even know one another are prone to long chats, often about the issues of the day. At least where I live.
The economy issue is behind a nuclear war or the US mainland being attacked. The folks with children are especially worried about that. The old folks, like me, are worried about their kids and grandkids. We oldies know we will have to die sooner or later, and we are much more concerned about the impact of all the evil chaos (worldwide) upon the younger generations.
To my surprise, many people I thought would be R's have turned out to be Democrats! 
The Rethugs are so transparent as they are all pro-T and not willing to believe -- even with proof - anything bad about the government under T.
The tech bros, with AI, have given the Magats the newest excuse: it's AI, not real, you Democrats/Socialists are fools as usual. Thus, every R I've talked to has been adamant that Renee Good and Alex Pretti were domestic terrorists of the highest order.
