He knows he is what he is accused of, but isn't man enough to admit the truth of anything. Delusional people don't give up their delusions easily, if ever. He sure as hell won't admit to himself that he hasn't got everyone else believing his stories.

He probably still thinks some people love him, despite all evidence to the contrary.
