Every once in a while he gets something right--he's a contrarian. But, he's still all rethuglican.

"Dr. Rand Paul Introduces a Bill to Authorize Construction of the Proposed New White House Ballroom

I stand with President Trump on building a new White House ballroom. After the latest assassination attempt at the Correspondents’ Dinner, it’s clear we need this secure, large-scale event space on the grounds for the President, for future administrations, and for America. I’ve personally reviewed and supported this project as a National Capital Planning Commissioner earlier this month.

I’m introducing a bill to keep the Ballroom Project privately funded, fully transparent with Congress, and at NO COST to taxpayers. It requires any Executive Residence project over $1 million to be reviewed by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee of the Senate and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of the House of Representatives. Once the chairs confirm their review, it’s published in the Congressional Record and authorized, followed by progress reports afterward. This is the responsible path toward supporting President Trump’s vision, protecting national security, reassuring taxpayers, maintaining congressional oversight, and getting the job done.
