In reply to the discussion: Now Trump Reportedly Wants Nation's Highest Military Honor... For Himself [View all]Johnny999r
(132 posts)Fred Trump sent Donald to a military boarding school to straighten him out. Donald played the game, but with the Vietnam War heating up, Fred enlisted a doctor that owed him a favor and got Donald a medical deferment for having "bone spurs" on the heal of a foot. This diagnosis didn't keep Donald from the tennis court, he played the game often soon after. I was on the tennis team in HS and obviously there is constant running, stopping, changing directions, etc. If you had bone spurs on your heals, I seriously doubt you could play the game. The doctor in question reportedly admitted to the arrangement later in life. All that aside, why Trump didn't pursue a non combat role instead, there are other services, including the reserves that offer many non combat assignments. That's what I did.
