I'm sure Musk and his DOGE dotards thought that AI could just take over for air traffic controllers so they could be fired. While many of the controllers and support staff returned, some did not and we do not have a huge pipeline of controllers ready to work. I don't think we have had a full complement of air traffic controllers since Reagan broke the union.
