Stakeholders in each will be the same. I suspect after a short time, they will be quite different

In 1984, AT&T divested into several Bell Operating Companies that provided local telephone service ( like Nynex, Bellatlantic, Southern Bell ...) and AT&T which had calls between the companies. All stockholders got shares in all the companies.

The interaction between the different companies was very different than when they were all parts of one company.

This split actually sounds easier than that was.
