1) infection with Hep B can be short-term (acute) and resolve, or long-term/lifelong (chronic) and incurable
2) infection during infancy leads to chronic Hep B 90+% of the time
3) infection after age 5 leads to chronic Hep B ~10% of the time
4) chronic Hep B leads to cirrhosis and/or liver cancer in 40% of cases
