Piers was playing by the old rules where you shame your interviewee by playing a clip or a secret recording of the interviewee being racist and then the interviewee squirms uncomfortably while unconvincingly protesting, "I'm not a racist! Honestly!"

Fuentes was playing a new game of, "OK. What's your point?" Piers was wholly unprepared for someone who didn't push back on any of his accusations, leaving him babbling, trying to lecture—like a headmaster to a naughty schoolboy—someone who clearly did not care about what the old man was saying.

The "rules," such as they are, are being rewritten as our aging generation starts to exit stage left.
