3. "Moral disengagement" is a great term.

Within each separate kingdom of Evangelicalism there is the belief that "we are right and everyone who does not believe the way we believe is wrong." Except when it comes to politics, of course. Then you have Evangelicals who consider Mormons demonic heretics aligning with them because of Mitt Romney. His conservative politics superceded their religious convictions.

They've re-defined the core values of Christianity, under the influence of right wing extremism, it is all transactional. "I believe in peace, but I don't believe you should benefit from it" is the general attitude.

And from personal experience, there is a measure of reactionary response to everything they consider "liberal" which closes off people from having to face the truth. I was raised in that mess, and I know all of the signs of it. Moral disengagement is exactly what it is.
