The Southern Baptist church in which I grew up did not permit people of color, black, hispanic or native American, to be members until they passed a resolution in 1970.

Baptists were the champions of religious liberty and separation of church and state, noted by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. But the Southern Baptist Convention, which broke away from the Triennial Convention in 1845, has drifted into apostate fundamentalism, and while they demand religious liberty in a way that over-rides anyone who disagrees with them, they are also not above wanting to use the power of the state to get what they want, since it seems that the answer to their prayers to beat their enemies over the head is a NO! from God.
