5. Not a native Texans but I've lived here 49+ years. But curious

what do you like about Texas these days. I loved it until about 1990's but in the last 30 years I think it has turned into a shithole. Climate sucks, air/water is nasty, shitkicker/beer joint culture is dumb, laws targeting LGBTQ people, terrible healthcare except in the major cities, total right-wing politics, voting rights suck, I could go on and on.

You might wonder why we (wife [native Texan] and I) don't leave? It is because my DW has a 92yo mom who is dependent on us. So I am heavily involved in county politics doing my best to change what I can. Honestly, I hear people blame California transplants for turning Texas but I don't see it. I think Texas is a reflection of Texans.
