Wait, So NJ is 'The Forbidden Zone'? [View all]

Stumbled across a map of the landscape where 'Planet of the Apes' (1968) takes place. Somehow I never thought of the landscape of that movie overlaid onto NYC even though it ends with him finding the Statue of Liberty.

It is a great twist ending but it makes no sense because Heston is going up the coast when he finds it. The statue is presently on an island in a harbor. Even if you bury the base and half the harbor in drifting sand you don't get 100+ foot high bluffs (of Point Dume / Northern Malibu) next to it.

If a big copper coated statue survived then why not some remnants of steel skyscrapers?

And if Ape City is built on the ruins of the IKEA in Elizabeth NJ then why don't the Apes have a bunch of Geborgen Morgens and Poängganurgenburgens??

This is almost as bad as when I found out that "The NeverEnding Story" in fact DOES END! And does so after only 94 minutes! No refunds.
