(2,265 posts)I have all the back issues you have, but the pain is fairly easily managed with Tramadol/muscle relaxers. When this back thing started out 40 years ago I spent 4 days in the hospital because I couldnt walk, but even then the pain was not intractable like what you described.
Never would have thought of shingles. Good thing you went to that PA.
My experience is that PAs are almost always better. I had a 5 month sinus infection about 15 years ago and went to multiple doctors who either told me it was allergies or acknowledged that it was a sinus infection and gave me a course of antibiotics that proved ineffective.
Finally went to a CareNow and got a PA named Cathy who actually listened and empathized. She decided to throw everything including the kitchen sink at it. I left with 6 prescriptions and in two weeks I was cured. Will never forget that woman. She didnt save my life, but it felt like it.
Now when I make an appointment at my primary care practice and they ask if Im okay with a PA I always say I prefer a PA.
Good luck to you. I hope the shingles pass quickly. My wife has had them three times and they are horrible. I pray I never get them.
