So I just witnessed a crow eating palm tree bark. [View all]

I have a palm tree outside of my bedroom window and the crows have been visiting the tree over the past year. Usually I just catch them swooping around, looking like they are having a blast.

One just pulled out a big piece of pulpy bark, flew to a gate post and pecked at for a bit. Then it broke off a good size piece and swallowed it. I would say the piece was about an inch and a half long and thicker than a french fry. It didn't look that soft but maybe it was softer than I knew.

I googled this but only found that they would possibly do this if they were curious or distressed. They've been doing this for a while though, I think. I see them swoop back and forth across my bedroom window all of the time but I haven't seen them eating the tree.

Crazy birds (said affectionately).

Now if I could only get them to stop pooping on my car.
