Adding visuals to music hurt the music. Made the lyrics seem more specific and less poetic.

And then it burned through every retro and current fashion in 12 months -- thin black ties, lounge jackets, poodle dog hair, flock of seagulls hair, pat benetar hair, greasy Rockabilly hair, spandex, jeans, sequins, on and on. As each band tried to find a look to stand out they just made the whole thing more of an amoeba.
