(12,037 posts)37. My maternal grandparents were
"Grandpa" and "Grandma". They use to visit Texas in the winter months after they retired. As an adult, I wrote them letters and addressed the envelope as Grandpa and Grandma with their surname. They liked that and it would make them smile.
My paternal grandparents were a gazillion years old when I was born. I think I was 3 when my grandfather died and 5 when my grandmother died. I don't remember what either one of them looked like and I'm not close to anyone on that side of the family.

The oldest male cousin of my extended cohort gave them the monikers, "Momo & Popo"...
