However, the story revolves around how Brown Trout were taken from the Black Forest of Germany and stocked in creeks around the US. So Alexander Trout who's earliest memories are of being in a fish hatchery, learns he is from the Swiss Alps and sets out on an adventure to see his true home waters and find out about his family. It touches a lot on how humans have screwed up ecosystems and thrown things out of balance with invasive species and so on a deeper level it's about putting nature back in balance.
