State surgeon general advocates against fluoride in Clearwater [View all]

Joseph Ladapo challenged council members to not dismiss research against fluoride.

Florida’s state surgeon general continued his statewide initiative encouraging local governments to stop fluoridation on Monday in Clearwater, furthering a debate a council member spurred in February.

“It is very unlikely that, however wonderful fluoride is for our teeth, that every single researcher and every single published study that has found a harm of fluoride exposure in children is wrong,” Ladapo said.

Ladapo’s comments come as the Florida House and Senate consider legislation that would would bar local governments from adding fluoride to their drinking water systems.

Clearwater City Council members again went back and forth on the topic, after council member Ryan Cotton broached the debate earlier this year to “prioritize public health.”

It is Florida's shame and disgrace that this fraudster Ladapo is the state's surgeon general.
