I looked up the stats, and it says, according to the Google, (as I was told to seek), asylum seekers are only 5% at the border. Not sure what the total is for non-border incidents. So what do we call those not on the asylum path or not cleared to be here called?
I think the left and the right get it wrong and make it more challenging than it needs to be. That is why I do feel there needs to be a separate classification for those not playing by the rules and those that are following the process. Not alien, not illegal, not all are asylum claims, not really an immigrant because it blurs the line with those who are not under the radar. Undocumented are committing a civil crime but its not a serious one like a felony so that also needs nuance.
Until I hear a better idea, i think I will stick with immigrant(s) here illegally. That provides separation because there are plenty of legal immigrants that deserve to be acknowledged and not lumped in with illegal activity. That would be offensive to paint that broad brush.
But I am glad you were at least trying to answer.
