I know him. He is a progressive, honest and sincere human being theologically and politically. And yes, there was a split in the Methodist Church driven by a group of people who have a concept of God that fits their narrow, close-minded theology. It was essentially a coup. That group thought they could take the church with them only it didn't work like that. They have been trying to get ahold of the UMC's assets for decades. What ended up happening is it cost them and it cost us all because there are no other voices challenging and encouraging them- only their own. Adam Hamilton is not one of them.
