More Republicans than Democrats register to vote in final two weeks [View all]

New Jersey added 16,836 new voters before the state’s voter registration deadline on October 14: 2,250 Republicans, 1,478 Democrats, and 13,062 unaffiliated.

That brings the total voter rolls to 6,626,731, although that includes roughly 470,000 inactive voters. Since the start of 2025, Republicans have added 30,966 new voters while Democrats have lost 11,106.

The Natural Law Party, which has been defunct since 1984, added thirteen new voters since October 1, another indication that the New Jersey Motor Vehicles Commission has not fixed a glitch in its motor voter registration system.

Still, Democrats hold a significant registration advantage in the state: there are 854,277 more registered Democrats in New Jersey than Republicans. For a time, the Democratic edge in New Jersey was over one million, with Democrats outnumbering unaffiliateds for the first time; those numbers have reset themselves.
