Mironov to step down after building Mercer into Democratic powerhouse [View all]
East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov will not seek a fifth two-year term as Mercer County Democratic Chair, ending an eight-year tenure as leader of one of the states most successful county political organizations.
The leading candidate to succeed her is Jennifer Keyes-Maloney, a Ewing councilwoman and longtime Democratic stalwart.
Under Mironovs tenure, no Republican currently holds a federal, state, county or municipal office elected in a partisan election; only Hudson County can claim a similar success. Democrats flipped the Hamilton mayors office in 2019 when Jeff Martin ousted Republican Kelly Yaede, and captured GOP council seats in Hamilton, Hightstown, Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township.
In the 16th legislative district, Mironov helped Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick) secure the Democratic nomination for State Senate. Zwicker flipped the seat held by retiring Republican Christopher Bateman (R-Branchburg).
