To feel empathy. It is a super-power tool right up there with hate and fear.

The instigator could never see himself or herself in that situation because they are so smart and so savvy that it could not happen to them or their family; they are the hammers and others are the nails, and rightfully so, because they will always claim that Gott mit uns.
