The last war
There is a saying that the military prepares to fight the last war.
A lot of effort is being put into a looming contest between President Biden and Mr. Trump. However, I believe individually and collectively we should prepare for a more dangerous possibility, that the Republicans wise up, turn on Trump and nominate Nikki Haley.
Haley has three strong attributes that make her viable to win the Presidency. First, she’s young and attractive. You might think a smart voter wouldn’t let that affect their voting choice but we’re talking about Republicans. Second, the woman is a chameleon. She will redefine herself in any fashion that advances her chances at victory. Third, it would seem she is driven to accumulate power. Her youth, looks, flexibility and drive make a much formidable for than Mr. Trump.
Less preparing for the last war. We need to keep our eyes on the straw man, but prepare for the quicksilver lady.
