From my point of view, and your mileage *will* vary ... and this only applies to me - I am not trying to convince anyone ... it seems like a good idea to try to find ways to make this tech useful. I am sort of a luddite in a lot of ways, i.e., no social media, no facebook, no twitter, no bluesky, no instagram, no tiktok, no youtube shorts, although I do *use* youtube, since I'm a musician, and there are a couple of interesting technical channels I follow. I am elderly, so I came to the internet when it was still all text-based and command line, and I remember regretting it when graphics and images became possible. I resisted that for a long time, and I still think that was the beginning of the long downward slide, in terms of internet crap. It used to be that you had to have at least some basic computer skills in order to navigate online (before the World Wide Web). Now, well ...
As a matter of fact, I *still* use my cell phone mostly for phone calls and texting, i.e., as a communication device, and I do my 'computing' at home on a laptop or desktop. I mourn the loss of my Blackberry Curve, that fit in the palm of my hand -- it fell victim to the need for constantly larger screen real estate.
So ... I *choose* the technology that I think can help me, and I learn how to use it. The rest I leave alone. Regarding AI, I definitely don't use it to be 'creative', but if the technology can help me complete a task, I'm all for it. I'm glad I don't have to go to the library and navigate the Dewey Decimal System just to get the answer to a question, even though that would (maybe) be more reliable than a Google search.
