It’s unclear how much money was stolen

The authorities don't routinely reveal that info, as they don't want criminals/potential criminals thinking, I can get THAT much money from [fill in the blank crime].

I was surprised when one of the news outlets reported how much one of those smash 'n grab gangs stole from one of those luxury designer stores. I thought, now that's gonna give some folks ideas.
