Sometimes when a car is totaled the vin number is scrapped. If this is a problem then I wouldn't buy the vehicle. This could be expensive problems waiting to happen and repairs at you cost. Also I have seen videos of people changing the vin number onto a stolen vehicle to make it a legal sale. Some vehicles also have a matching number on the engine check if your vehicle company does this.
