Israel/Palestine

(98 posts)Hi,
I'm new to this group and DU in general. I've noticed there are a lot of posts about Israel/Palestine outside in the general discussion group. I'm wondering why and when is the right time to post here vs there. I wonder if the rationale is that the posts do not meet the guidelines to be posted here. For example:
Iran expels half a million Afghans in 16-day stretch since recent conflict with Israel, UN says

This article points to the hypocrisy with respect to criticism of Israel that is relevant to this debate even if tangential. Would this be excluded because of the rule "Do not post accusations of anti-Semitism"? Seems like a legit thing to discuss. Maybe it is not anti-semitism, but it is definitely a double standard that Israel has to deal with for "some" reason.
Looks like the other post I was going to ask about "1 in 10 Palestinian children losing limbs" got deleted. Posting it here seemed like the right place so it could be examined critically.
I'm a zionist and I'm not ashamed to admit that. At the same time, I recognize the humanity of the Palestinians and do not wish suffering upon them. The current events are painful and I'm looking for the right forum to discuss this.
