7. The nausea is from opioids, or opioid withdrawal?

I only have first-hand experience with chemo nausea. For opioids, in helping someone I love, there was tremendous sweating and loss of fluids, so hot and cold drinks and frequent changes of clothes. Cool washcloths on forehead when the person feels hot.

Herbal teas that seemed soothing included Kava tea and Tension Tamer, maybe because of the suggestion that they are calming. Ginger or peppermint tea and/or lozenges can help. In general, fluids are key.

For eating, there is a "BRAT" diet I was recommended during radiation: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. At my worst, I could only tolerate vegetable broth and saltines. I don't recommend it for long!
