I'm not at all surprised that he's in bed with Scientology. Like I said before, the resemblance between his stance on psychiatric drugs and theirs is VERY strong.

Kennedy has made similar unsupported claims in the past about pesticides, claiming that eating non-organic food leads to chronic disease, behavioral issues, and autism.

Yeah, I've noticed that he thinks eating organic foods is the answer to everything. Sure, Bob. (Don't get me wrong; I know organic foods have benefits, especially environmental ones. I just have a major problem with the idea that any diet, organic or otherwise, is the kind of universal panacea he seems to think it is.)

A large number of people could be caught up in these proposed policies should they materialize as Kennedy is pitching that not only users of illegal drugs be sent to the wellness farms, but also users of antidepressants and ADHD medications.

Thinking he can cure addicts with organic foods is silly, but THIS is the kind of thing that enrages me! Fortunately, I don't see much chance of him getting Congress on board with this nonsense. Republicans would never go for it, and most Dems would be too science minded to even consider buying into it.

Then there's his brilliant idea of funding all of this nonsense "via a sales tax on cannabis products." First of all, did he not get the memo that cannabis is still illegal under federal law? Sure, it's legal in a growing number of states, but Congress can't enact a federal tax on a substance that they have refused to legalize!

I guess he did not get that memo, nor did he get the one about how there's never been a federal sales tax on anything. It's theoretically possible, according to some quick googling I just did, but laughably unlikely in practice, especially to fund something that nobody is going to want to fund in the first place!

I'm therefore not going to lose any sleep over this particular pipe dream of his. But even if he can't put this particular idea into practice, it still worries me greatly that someone with such wildly NON science based ideas is in the position he's in.
