10. Surgery went better than expected!

Thank you! Good news after surgery! My docs did a wonderful job. They said the mass had shrunk a bit more with the 4th chemo and they were able to remove the mass without doing either one of the ostomies! They did move the ureter, put one stent in, removed 6 inches of colon. In addition to shortening the vagina a bit.

The first night was rough. Surgery was over at 7-something and they came in and checked my blood sugar every hour. I didn’t get moved to a room until after 12am. The nurses were saying I had the “Dream Team” of senior surgeons. Two other surgeons scrubbed in, and several assistants and students observed.

It’s the second day out they’ve removed the bandages, I’ve walked 8 laps around the nurses station, and am on minimal pain meds.

So — so far, so good!
