Cook noodles in the soup, you add starch and body. I like brothy chicken noodle soup where you can still see the bottom of the bowl through the broth, so egg noodles cook separately.

I married somebody who likes soup to be what I consider gloppy (or what I would call "stew" )... So, if I'm not cooking the chicken noodle, the noodles would go in the soup to cook, along with some additional starch to make everything murkier
