6. Just got back from the grocery store.

We're expecting 10" of snow, starting tomorrow night. I thought I'd be "smart" and hit the store this afternoon. Seems like everyone else thought the same way. The entire row of bananas were gone. No rotisserie chickens! Bell peppers and other peppers of all kinds and colors, gone. Hamburger down to a few packages, at the highest end of the prices ($11.00) for a pound of 93% lean. Expecting NOT to move out of the house until sometime early next week, I bought a lot of ingredients to make several different meals and snacks (like quesadillas, tacos, etc.) Even bought the fixings to make my own recipe for chicken salad sandwiches. The grocery store selection I bought last week tastes like they pureed the chicken and veggies into a thin gruel to spread on bread... IOW, YUK!

The store was so packed, moving thru the aisles was like waiting for a green light on a rush hour street. Two hours later I finally made it to the checkout, where the checker told me she, personally, had waited on some people who'd come back to the store today 3 and 4 times.

Kids are gone to search the other grocery store (and finally, Walmart, if necessary) for the chicken. My back is breaking, my stomach aches at the $350 grocery bill for us, the cats, and the dog. A can of Campbells chunky soup was less expensive than a can of decent dog food! My nerves are so much on edge, I'm trying desperately not to get sick to my stomach. I'm *very* short and slight, and don't do well in crowds of normal sized people... especially when my back and my fibro are acting up.

So, after buying all that stuff... the cooking waits until tomorrow. Tonight, it's sloppy joes and french fries (SMDH).
