11. There's still SHAG CARPETING in this house!!

And the carpeting in the living room reminds me of what you'd see in a funeral home. The house was full of lots of browns, beiges, 'gold tones' and the original stove, that was still here when I moved in, was avocado. Oh, and there is wallpaper and wood paneling EVERYWHERE. The wallpaper is disappearing. The paneling will be painted.

My aunt and uncle never redecorated, from the day they moved in, back in the late 60's. When I discussed updating things, with my aunt (she survived my uncle by about 10 years) she grew VERY upset with me. So, even now that she's gone I sometimes hesitate, a bit, for fear of offending her spirit. But, it's time to think about me and my much taste for much brighter hues - blues, greens and even a splash, or two, of yellow.

Ideally I'd love to fix the house up, sell it, and move into a much smaller, easier to maintain place. Preferably a Craftsman style cottage with enough land for a small veg garden.
