25. Our middle daughter and son-in-law rescued a cat about five years ago that showed up battered and cut

at their home. She is an indoor cat only now and is the nicest cat you can imagine. She tolerated our dogs Blake and Chloe when we visited, which we did often because I was our granddaughter's primary babysitter, and they in turn learned to be kind and not harass her.

Blake died about six weeks ago. When we visited their house the first time without him, Cheddar came out of their bedroom, went to the mutual toy box, and picked up then dropped the toy that was Blake's favorite.

We were stunned.
