(307 posts)by the level of support and responses here for the loss of my little Bellatrix.
For those who said she would visit - you weren't wrong and she already has! The first night, both my daughter and I felt her jump up to where we were sleeping (and, if you have cats, you know that you can tell the difference which cat it is).
The next morning, one of our automatic litter boxes had registered use in the middle of the night by a cat with a weight of 4.4 lbs - that could ONLY have been her (the other three are all 10+ lbs, and she was down to 5.1 at her last weigh-in).
My old tortie girl, Persephone, who we lost in 2019 at the age of 20-1/2, has visited in the past and still does from time to time, so this is not surprising. She probably taught Bella the ropes as soon as she arrived. (I used to call them Veruca and Violet because of the way they would spat when they were younger, but towards the end, they made peace...the day Percy had to be liberated, Bella kept jumping up to lay with her. On Sunday, the cycle continued when our tuxy girl did the same for Bella...)
I'm not a traditionally religious person - raised by a family of Christians (but real ones that quietly lived their faith rather than performative about it), but I've been pagan since 1993. However, my husband and mom made such short order of bombarding me with, I mean, the MOST *undeniable* signs that I no longer have ANY doubt our consciousness survives physical death.
Double thank yous to the folks who PMd me and/or taught me how to post photos. I have done so now and here is a link to the gallery I created to celebrate her life.
