My husband is also a 70s era vet. As an operating room tech at Ft. Rucker, he “kept Alabama free” from what the locals referred to as “the Commies.”

I’m sorry about the loss of your dog, my friend. Maybe you can rescue another?
It took my husband 20 years after our JoJo died before he was ready to accept another dog. Molly was going to be a foster, but he fell in love with her before we even got her home. Took her to the vet the next day to get her tag.
