My Molly Good Golly is terrified of thunderstorms, gunfire (hunters way out here in the middle of nowhere), and sudden unexpected loud noises like that. She hunkers down trembling and panting in wide-eyed panic. PTSD, Im pretty sure.
She was found wandering, hungry, with what looked like a lamp cord tied around her neck so tight she had a long festering wound. I suspect shed been tied out somewhere in all kinds of weather before she chewed the cord in two and ran away. A guidance counselor at the high school where I was the librarian picked her up. She was very active in county animal rescue work. She already had 4 dogs and asked me if I might adopt Babygirl. We rescued each other in 2014.
She still doesnt like men at all, except for my husband and son-in-law.
What has helped so far during thunderstorms is keeping her close and tucked under some cover. We do give her some CBD oil, which mellows her, gently enhancing her curious, happy, funny, busy personality. I usually play a Joni Mitchell concert dvd (Painting with Words and Music) at a medium-loud volume during thunderstorms. It captures her attention and makes her calmer. Me too.

White noise on Bluetooth could be sweet when Ive gone to bed and Dear Happy is up late playing his guitar. Well definitely give it a try.
