21. It's the long goodbye

Every new puppy or kitten you meet is just the beginning of the end. Love them, cherish them, and build good memories of them. In all too short of a time we will lose our beloved pet.

It’s a good life lesson for us. You never know when it’s the last time you’ll ever pick up your dog and carry him. The last time you’ll scratch his ears, or any of these lasts. Same with your children. Each time you pick up your child, it might be the last time you’re able to hold her because she got too big.
