5. Not tried the headband...

My 12 year old Shih Tzu has gotten super scared of thunderstorms and fireworks in the last few years. Worse, she will stress pee everywhere unless I carry her or put her in the doggie cart and wheel her through the house until it's over. Thundershirts didn't help at all, vet prescribed trazadone which also didn't work. But then my vet prescribed a gel that you squeeze in her mouth shortly before trigger sounds are expected. Makes all the difference in the world: now she stays calm and relaxed - even during hurricanes.

My 8 year old male Shih Tzu is the opposite. He couldn't care less. He goes outside during thunderstorms and hurricanes not just to do his business but just to have stroll around the pool.
