C-o-G exercises take place regularly. One week, my team went to Site-R (Raven Rock) and operated out of there for five days. No sunshine. Each of us had to drive there as if we were in a genuine crisis. We were given special placards "Essential Personnel" for our cars. The next week another team went. Each major federal or DoD agency rotates teams to these C-O-G sites 1) to see how quickly they can get there; 2) and to check if the auxiliary systems work.

VIPs would use helicopters and this poor crew died during a training (or rehearsal) flight.
